About Lesley Gillespie
My background is in orthopaedic nursing but I developed my special interest in falls when completing a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology. I have been involved with various research projects since then. Now I am an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. I am a review author and editor with the Cochrane Bone, Joint and Muscle Trauma Group.

Work Package 1 Associate. Contributing to discussions about the falls taxonomy. Helped identify randomised controlled trials that have been used by the Work Package 1 members as part of this process.

Special Interest in Falls Prevention:
I am interested in identifying the evidence for effective fall prevention interventions in order to inform evidence-based practice. I am responsible for maintaining the Cochrane review "Interventions for preventing falls in older people living in the community".
